“Under the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, eligible citizens can receive land grants and borrow interest-free housing loans (mostly for constructing villas) up to AED 2,000,000, or approximately USD 544,500. However, in 2013, only 20 percent of the population were national citizens, the remaining 80 were mostly expatriates who did not have access to these formal housing systems. AHI is working with the Abu Dhabi government to develop a housing business strategy that serves a greater range of income groups and offers a wider selection of housing typologies suitable for the long term development of the region.”
