” In addition to my ongoing work on the department’s design guidelines, I have also been working on a project proposal for a block of DND owned parcels in Mattapan.
The site includes 27 parcels which are currently urban woodlands, in a low density suburban area. There is currently a paper street running through the site, but no built roads or infrastructure, sewer lines, or utilities.
Instead of building out a street and placing single family homes, the city is hoping to create a scheme which feels more like a campus. This would preserve some of the community’s green space, and minimize the amount of roadwork that needs to occur.
We are hoping to include about 20 single family homes and 30 apartment units, some of which will be senior living.
Two interns from Real Estate Management and Sales have been working on community engagement and site documentation. I am working on some schematic site plans which we will present to the community to get their feedback, and then the project will be issued as a RFP (Request for Proposal) for developers.
Because the project will have a big impact on the surrounding area, it’s very important for us to hear the community’s feedback on how this project might impact traffic, the neighborhood’s demographic, and parking.”
