Summer 2017

Organization: Ibasho, Washington, DC

Sponsor: Doebele Community Service Fellowship

” Emi and I started the week by discussing the draft concept paper and responses she had received. We walked through and adjusted some of the costs, projected fees, and operational requirements that I had calculated. I had a phone meeting with an Ibasho board member who is a non-profit funder, and began to process her feedback on which focus areas could reasonably expect grant financing.

I then created two separate draft concept papers, one where Ibasho would remain strictly as a non-profit, and the other as a combined non-profit and B Corp (social enterprise). The latter would allow Ibasho to receive impact investment.

I started a database of potential funders, primarily of grants. I have also begun looking for investors and social enterprise accelerators.”
