“My role with the LGBT Aging Project has been to help prepare for a needs assessment research study focused on affordable housing and well-being of the aging community.  Since I first began in June my experience has been in full throttle with the passing of the Equality Act, which in turn, has pulled into sharper focus other systemic issues that we can now more successfully address: violence, discrimination, immigration and most importantly housing policies that fail to protect LGBT-Q people.

With a collaborative approach, I have had the great pleasure of working with leading researchers in the field of LGBT-Q senior health and wellness, including Dr. Judy Bradford (the Fenway Institute); Dr. Sean Cahill (Fenway Institute); Dr. Gary Bailey (Simmons School of Social Work); Lisa Krynsky (LGBT Aging Project); and Bob Lindscott (LGBT Aging Project).

We have begun work on several initiatives meant to help intervene in affordable housing policy and development specifically targeting LGBT-Q communities such as: Elders of Color, our Transgender brother and sisters and Youth cultures. Once complete, these studies will be foundational and we hope will open up a broader conversation attached to finance, community and class.”
