“Final Pocket Park Presentations
This week the students made their final presentations on their Pocket Park designs. In each presentation, the student talked about the main objectives of his or her intervention, which was derived from a previous community meeting. They discussed the main design elements that would make their objectives possible, and finally talked about the impact their design would have on the community.
The Sweet Water Foundation students presented in collaboration with the Chicago Architecture Foundation student fellows (who were also designing a pocket park for Sweet Water Foundation). The students from the Re[CREATED] spaces program demonstrated a better understanding of layout and elements that are intrinsic to successful pocket park designs. They were well articulated and showed their acquired knowledge by using architecture vocabulary and referring to Jane Jacobs to discuss the importance of open public space in communities.”
