“UN-Habitat, as part of the preparatory process towards the Habitat III Conference in 2016, is currently hosting the Urban Dialogues, a series of e-discussions, through which interested actors are brought together to provide emerging ideas on six main urban issues (shown in the image above) for the elaboration of the New Urban Agenda. In this sense, the Urban Dialogues provide a platform for various stakeholders to discuss how sustainable urban development can be advanced, as well as to identify knowledge and policy options and responses that might be deployed in the context of the New Urban Agenda. As part of my internship I have been helping moderate the ‘Urban Frameworks’ dialogue, which covers issues such as urban rules and legislation, national urban policies, governance, capacity and institutional development, municipal finances, legal frameworks, the distribution of responsibilities and resources, fiscal and financial arrangements, as well as political, managerial and administrative processes around urban development. Visit www.habitat3.org to learn more about it and participate in the discussion!”
